Information dissemination about plant and pollution

                                                            

An exhibition was jointly organized by National Botanical Research Institute and Lucknow Municipal Corporation on 1-2  March 2014, which displayed the importance of Plants in the control of Pollution. The exhibition showed posters on the following burning topics: • ENVIS-NBRI: A Plant and Society interface • Environmental Pollution • Road si de plants tolerant to air pollution • Plants tolerant to air pollution for road divider • Plants for Green Belt • Bioindicators of Pollution • Arsenic Phytoremediation • Role of Citizens in prevention of pollution • Plants for Indoor Air Pollution • Eco-Education The general public was informed about the different pollution occurring outside and indoor. The plants which can help to alleviate pollution were displayed and people were informed about their environmental remediation properties. The arsenic pollution which prevails in the soil, water, paddy fields and the phytoremediation strategies for arsenic pollution were explained. Newsletters published by ENVIS-National Botanical Research Institute (ENVIS-NBRI) and pamphlets with information about the different plants which help to remediate pollution were distributed. Students took keen interest in the website of ENVIS-NBRI.
