ENVIS RP-NBRI celebrated ‘World Ozone day’ on 16th September, 2019

ENVIS RP-NBRI celebrated ‘World Ozone day’ on 16th September, 2019 in Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, Gomti nagar, Lucknow. Dr. Babita Kumari, Co-cordinator, ENVIS RP-NBRI, CSIR-NBRI delivered lecture on ‘World Ozone day’ and briefed about the ozone layer, ozone depletion and its harmful effects. She also introduced students about the ‘Montreal Protocol’ and steps taken by India and other countries to phase out the Ozone Depleting Substances. Students took keen interest to know about ozone hole and raised various questions that had been answered by her. ENVIS RP-NBRI team members, Mr. Diwakar Saini, Ms. Amrita Awasthi, and Ms. Vineeta Yadav, elaborated the role of ENVIS-RP, CSIR-NBRI in the field of environment especially associated with ‘Plant and Pollution’. In this occasion, ENVIS team members also distributed the ENVIS RP-NBRI brochures, issues of newsletters related to ozone and pamphlet on ‘World Ozone Day’.

2. Kendriya Vidyalay, Gomtinagar, Lucknow
On the occasion of ‘World Ozone day’, 16th September, 2019 students of Kendriya Vidyalay, Gomtinagar, Lucknow belonging 10 to 12th classes had been introduced with one of the crucial tropic of Environment, i.e., Ozone Depletion and Steps toward its recovery. Dr. Babita Kumari delivered lecture on this topic and briefed how the Ozone depleting substances deplete the ozone layer and cause thinning of ozone layer. She also told the students about the ‘Montreal Protocol’, successful story of CFC and HCFC phase out plan and role of India in this direction. Students took keen interest to know about formation of ozone hole and raised various questions that had been answered by her. In this occasion, ENVIS RP-NBRI team members, Mr. Diwakar Saini, Ms. Amrita Awasthi, and Ms. Vineeta Yadav distributed the ENVIS RP-NBRI brochures, issues of newsletters related to ozone and pamphlet on ‘World Ozone Day’.
